.ME’s at the Harvey Nichols S/S Show. By Caroline Sullivan

Last Wednesday Karen and I put our fashion feet forward and headed out to the Harvey Nichols SS12 fashion show at the impressive but relatively unknown Campfield Market Hall. Once we had arrived, with a glass of champagne in tow, we were transported into a virtual fish tank which set the scene for an evening of fresh and exciting summer fashion.

Womenswear showcased some of this seasons key trends including ‘Pale and Interesting’ a beautiful mix of sorbet colours in silks, loose knits and soft denim, ‘Grunge Glam’ taking us back to the 90’s with metallic’s, black studded leather and tartan pants, and my favourite ‘Acid Reigns’ with striking neon accessories and the most spectacular hot pink Philip Armstrong cape. Closing the show was a friend of Karen’s, Philip Armstrong’s collection of dresses exclusive to Harvey Nichols. The Tulle Dress was standout for me; needless to say if I had a spare £2400 it would be hanging beautifully in my wardrobe!

Menswear took on cool trends such as ‘Happy Days’ taking its inspiration from the 50s – colours were bright and varied, hems and sleeves were rolled and sunglasses were donned, ‘Fine Print’ where wild vibrant prints were mixed and clashed with tailoring keeping the look premium. Not to mention ‘Pool Cool’ where the gossip surrounded what the models weren’t wearing, rather than what they were! My least favourite look I have to admit was ‘Punk London’, however the Christian Louboutin gold studded high tops did win me over a little.

After hitching a ride on the complimentary London bus back to store and a spot of shopping (oops DVF was too tempting for Karen to resist), our evening was finished off perfectly with Peanut butter Parfait for me and Pannacotta for Karen at Harvey Nichols Supper club. March’s first .ME date night was a hoot. Off to bed early (ish!) for me, ready to get up and face the fashionistas at the Marni collection for H&M the following day.
